Blue Thistles founder Amanda DeKatch grew up in Dimondale, Michigan with a dried blue thistle in a bud vase decorating the top of her dresser. Before transitioning into stay-at-home motherhood, she spent seven years serving as Assistant Creative Arts minister at Mount Hope Church. At the mid-point of her tenure as a pastor, she discovered herself at a crossroads. She could continue doing the same things she’d always done the same way she’d always done them and remain stagnant and dissatisfied. Or, she could risk seeking outside assistance to navigate this tender time and discover where that path lead. Nervously Amanda chose the latter and it launched her into a season of rapid growth, healing, and transformation that continues today.
There are pivotal places in life that require outside sources to help us get through successfully. Amanda recognizes and honors those who came alongside her in her “fork in the road” moment and wants to do the same for others. Blue Thistles is the vehicle through which she hopes to usher people into greater wholeness using experiential worship, movement, and one-on-one coaching,
Amanda holds an AA in contemporary music, a certificate in music & media, and is a certified Holy Yoga instructor (R-HYI, RYT200). She is passionate about guiding people into a place of greater health – physically, emotionally, and spiritually – and looks forward to seeing how God will use Blue Thistles in our community. She resides in Grand Ledge with her husband, Chad, and their sons Phineas and Solomon.
